Worship

As a Church of England Primary School, daily worship is an important part of school life. It can provide an opportunity for pupils to share experiences, beliefs, values and concerns which are important to them and offer an occasion to reflect on those things which inspire us with awe, wonder, gratitude or a sense of being a part of something much greater than ourselves.

However...

'In Church of England schools, collective worship is seen as more than a daily ‘awe and wonder’ moment. It is the unique heartbeat of the school and is offered as part of a wider opportunity for pupils and adults to encounter faith by engaging in conversations about God, both as individuals and together.' (The Church of England Collective Worship in Church of England Schools: Inclusive, Invitational and Inspiring 2021)

This is true at Eccleston St. Mary's. Daily collective worship is built around Anglican traditions and brings joy, reflection, spirituality and prayer into our busy daily lives. It offers a unique opportunity for us to reflect on who we are, what we value and who we want to be. It enables us to reflect on global events, faith traditions and for us to explore our own spirituality. It is delivered through our own liturgy and learnings from the gospels of Christ.

We recognise that we provide faithful education to everyone and are supportive of those who follow other world faiths or those who identify as having no faith.  Collective worship is therefore planned to be not only inspirational but also inclusive and invitational. As such, all pupils can take part with integrity.
