Lancashire Equality Mark

At Eccleston St. Mary's, we believe that children should learn about the rich and diverse society in which we all live and which we all share. We want our pupils to feel fully included themselves and to be welcoming and accepting of others, whatever their background, beliefs or situation.

We therefore set out on a journey at the beginning of 2023 to work towards the Lancashire Equality Mark. This means working towards six different 'badges' over several years. The six badges are:

  • Race Equality Badge

  • Gender and Gender Variance Equality Badge

  • Disability Equality Badge

  • Socio-economic Equality Badge

  • Sexual Orientation Equality Badge

  • Religion and Belief Equality Badge

We decided to focus, first of all, on Race Equality and Religion and Belief Equality and were delighted to be awarded the badges for both in July 2024. The awarding letter and certificates can be found below.

Never wanting to stand still, of course, we are now working towards our next two badges - those for Disability Equality and for Socio-economic Equality.
